This is Dorothy Nelson and I’d like to share my recent experience at Colonial HealthCare and Rehabilitation Centre in Princeton. After major surgery on my ankle, I found out I was unable to go home and needed rehab services. I choose Colonial. From the moment I arrived I was well taken care of. Everyone worked as a team; they all knew what was going on, what the other person was doing, and were friendly and cheerful. Great food, personal care and, of course, the rehab services, prepared me to navigate around my 112 year old house with confidence. Due to my age, I realize I was not a typical resident, although this also gave me a different perspective. If you or your loved one need rehab services, make the choice I made, Colonial.

My mother came to Colonial Health Care and Rehabilitation Centre on September 6th and has received really good care. They have a real good staff to watch over and care for their residents. My mother needed to come for added support.

My mother Irene DeClerk entered Colonial Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre in the middle of June. She had fallen several times and Doctor Davis recommended she go somewhere where they could watch over her. After talking with him and some friends it was decided to have her go to Colonial. She is receiving great care and when she fell again they were there quickly to get her up and keep checking on her. She sometimes doesn’t care for the food but she is used to fixing what she wants. She is a sweets eater so she really enjoys the snacks she gets every day. When I come in everyone is great in letting me know what has happened that I should know about.

Colonial HealthCare and Rehabilitation Centre in Princeton Illinois has given my mom very good care. I am pleased with all they do for her since I cannot be there at all times. I feel very content she is safe! The nursing staff is right on top of everything, if any health issue arises they respond immediately. Finally the food is excellent and the staff makes sure she is served what she enjoys. If my mom sleeps threw her 5:00 supper hour she will be served her hot meal when she wakes up. I would highly recommend Colonial HealthCare and Rehabilitation Center to anyone!

Hello, my name is Doris Duffield and I recently had a short stay at Colonial HealthCare and Rehabilitation Centre. When I went to Colonial I was unable to get along quickly. While there I received very good therapy which was the right thing to do to make me feel better. Their therapy was great, couldn’t find a better one which is very important. I have received good care by good nurses and good nursing assistants. They were the best at showing me how to exercise and my walking to benefit me.

Hello, my name is Gertie Spires and I recently had a stay at Colonial HealthCare and Rehabilitation Centre. During my stay a Colonial I have been very happy and the personal care you receive from the staff is great! It seems like I was always going to therapy although I healed quickly and was able to go home in a much shorter time than planned. I have been to another nursing home and Colonial gives much better care. I hope I never have to go to a nursing home again, but if so it will be here at Colonial!

Hello, my name is Elaine Kelm and I had a recent stay at Colonial HealthCare and Rehabilitation Centre. I had a fall at home obtaining a neck injury, having to wear a neck brace 24/7. I live alone so I knew I would need some help. Having been at Colonial 2 years ago, for one month, I decided to come back! I found Colonial to have caring and friendly CNA's and always willing to help you when you need it. Having diabetes, also, the nurses kept me on the right the right track with blood sugars and my insulin. The therapy services were very good. I have become much stronger, slowed down walking, learned to think about what I am going to do before doing it. I've also improved in balance with their help. My thanks to all of them who worked with me. I would recommend Colonial HealthCare and Rehabilitation Centre because of the good care, the therapy department, and the food. I would chose Colonial HealthCare and Rehabilitation Centre again if I need more skilled care!
— Elaine Kelm
My stay at Colonial was an unexpected pleasure. I expected the worst, and got the best. Every single member of the staff concerned themselves with not only my needs, but my comfort. In just a short time, my disappointment in having to go to a rehab facility melted away into warm friendships. Each of the physical and occupational therapists were professional, courteous, and encouraging. Their success in my treatment is a testament to their skills. Colonial is not home, but its the next best thing.

Hello, my name is Charlette Tournear and I had a recent stay at Colonial Health care and Rehabilitation Centre. I went to Colonial after I fell and spent several days at Unity Point Methodist Hospital and needed rehab before being independent enough to go home. During my stay I found the people at Colonial are friendly and caring as well as efficient. The therapy crew are helpful and caring and have a delightful sense of humor. They also figured out my specific needs and we worked together for healing. I would also like to say they keep the facility very clean. I have already recommended Colonial Health care for their caring and efficient staff.

Hello, My name is Charlene Behrens and I had a recent stay at Colonial HealthCare after I fell face first onto a cement floor. I twisted my knee and couldn’t put weight on it. My face was black and blue. This was actually my third time I had been to Colonial. The care is wonderful; the staff is helpful and kind. What I specifically like about Colonial is the food is very good and family is always welcome. And of course the staff! The therapy staff is willing to listen about my problems; they had me try different ways of doing activities. I have been recommending Colonial since the first time I was there in 2014 and if I need help I will be back!
— Charlene Behrens

Hello, my name is Sharon Newton and I had a recent stay at Colonial Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre because I could not be home alone at night. While at Colonial I found I have a lot more strength – the staff is AWESOME. Everyone is so ready to jump up and help with whatever you need. The therapists made hard work mixed with humor fun. I did things that usually I would refuse. The girls are amazing especially Kristy and Kim. The nurses were amazing too they go to bat for you when you need it. I would highly recommend Colonial for their kindness and success they have had with me.
— Sharon Newton
Hello my name is Kirsten Olson and I had a recent stay at Colonial Healthcare and Rehabilitation centre after having blood clots from my ankles to my groin, and swelling that limited my walking. I didn’t want to go to a nursing home. I’m only 46, but Colonial made the experience surprisingly fun. Roselyn and the activities gang made sure I had age appropriate activities (a tablet and Sudoku games). The aides were so personable I made fast friends with them. The nurses were out of this world (Bing, Brenda, Cathy, Vicki). But most of all the therapy, I had heard the therapy at Colonial was good. That is a lie! The therapists are phenomenal! They make you want to work hard. Their encouragement tactics are beyond belief (and sneaky). They can easily make you smile and are always concerned about your comfort. They are truly one of a kind. Thanks to Rochelle and Christi I never was too far from water, encouragement, consoling, and a huge smile, or most of all an ice pack! I would very highly recommend Colonial to my friends and family. The care is top notch. The aides treat you like a human being not a pay check. But most of all the entire staff feels like family!
— Kirsten Olson

— Ray Shipp
Hello, my name is Richard Pendergast and I had a recent stay at Colonial Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre after having seizers caused by a tumor in my head. The Dr. removed the tumor and I needed to get stronger before I went home. All of the people were so nice to me. The therapy people knew what exercises I needed to do to make me stronger. With their help I am able to go back home. I would recommend Colonial’s speech, occupational, and physical therapy programs to anyone who required these services in order to return home.
— Richard Pendergast
Hello, my name is Glenn Neff and I recently stayed at Colonial Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre after experiencing little to no movement in my legs. As a result of going to Colonial I can now walk again. I found that the food was excellent and the care was great and the therapy staff did an excellent job. I would recommend Colonial for their good food, their services are good, and they care about their residents. You could tell that they really care about the people.
— Glenn Neff
Hello, My name is Ronald Wall and I had a recent stay at Colonial Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre after I lost consciousness at home and was taken to OSF where I was diagnosed with viral meningitis. By then I could hardly move from point A to point B. After going to Colonial I found it was a good choice. Good staff, good food, very clean. No urine odor like too many nursing homes I have visited. If you have to be in a rehab center, this is probably the best. I really enjoyed the girls in therapy and tried to make the best of something I would just as soon rather not do. I would highly recommend Colonial for all the reasons above.
