Colonial’s Memory Care Unit is designed to promote independence within a comfortable and safe environment. The goal of each activity on the unit is to help individuals maintain the optimum level of functioning and to maintain the highest quality of life possible.

More than 5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. A host of cognitive and physical losses accompany the devastating and degenerative disease. Colonial HRC’s specialized Memory Care Unit has been designed to use a holistic approach to address and compensate for these losses to the greatest extent possible. (The Program) aims to maintain a calming environment while providing activities to stimulate the mind and body, ensuring the best course of lifestyle for those with a memory disorder such as Alzheimer’s Disease. This is done in the least restrictive environment possible to permit the greatest degree of personal freedom. (The Program) attempts to identify aspects of each residents life effected by the disease.

The Memory Care Unit staff receive special training and seek to adapt to each resident’s individual patterns of behavior. This team is supervised by a Certified Dementia Practitioner as well as a Clinical Care Coordinator to ensure a comprehensive plan of care for each resident. Our team strives to provide each family/loved ones with support and education with what can be expected through the cognitive changes each resident may face. We provide the best possible environment for every resident so that he/she can be successful in the tasks of day to day living. Our compassionate and caring staff provide a warm, homelike environment that enriches quality of life for older adults living with Alzheimer’s and memory disorders.
